Gorilla’s! So here’s a move that’s been around forever right? The Dip; mainly done on a “dip machine” or “dip station”. BUT what of you ain’t got one? Maybe you’re on the road, in the hotels, or logging some long hours at work and you wanna get something in?!?!? Then find a set of chairs or anything thing that will allow you to hoist yourself up off the ground in the likeness of a dip. Kung-Pow! There it is! Your own dip station! Check out the clip below, you’ll see what I mean!

Gorilla Nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What’s crackin’!?! I hope that everyone is well and healthy out there! Thanks for sticking around while Mantis was away on vacation. I know he did get out a couple quick blurps out, but now that he is back you can expect to see alot of good stuff! He spent some time filming really cool outdoor and indoor exercises/workouts to prove that fitness is anywhere you make it. Welcome to another edition of Gorilla workouts by USAJG! As forementioned USAJG will be live on location at Brady’s Run Park this Sunday June 14th, 2009. There will be a body weight training session, a 5K forest trail run, and USAJG’s ManTis, will be introducing two new exercises: The MobileMan Pullup Station and Tactical Burpees. Featured clips from this outdoor excursion will be available and we will post the regimen that will be featured this afternoon at Brady’s Run Park.

I wanted to really push the run time more than anything. As I was running along, I kept thinking about this saying I was told to by an old Russian friend; she used to sayto me, “Good , better, best. Gorilla Nationnnnnnnnnnnnnn! What’s crack’n!??! We comin’ at you today with a brand new vid! We got down on this one and hit the plyometric action! That’s right, plyometric pushups. Using the heavy bags and cinder blocks we put together an excellent station for our variation of this plyometric pushup. Give this exercise a try if you’re ready to take your pushups to the next level. This exercise will test all the muscle sinews in your chest…… believe us!

That’s right, we said RUN! Don’t forget to hit up this awesome exercise that’s been around for centuries! RUN! at the local park, on the trails, down on the track, up the hills, and even in the sand! No tread mill, no eliptical, not even jogging! RUN! Go short or go long, the distance is up to you. Just be sure you’re firin’ up your legs and putting the RUN! into your Gorilla routine!

Greeting’s Gorilla’s! Hope everyone had a good, safe holiday. We wanted to take a moment and touch base with everyone who checks us out regularly or periodically by our RSS feed or thru our Youtube site. Believe it or not it’s been almost 1yr that we have been up and running here out of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It’s truly has been a cool first year. We’ve launch 80+ videos, posted numerous on line workout regimens, as well as, a few how-to’s, and of course we published 3 original articles on outdoor fitness and exercise. USAJunglegym goes to suburbia to bring Mantis and Optimus together to perform this unique barbell exercise . Pairing up, each man takes the 115lbs and presses it, switch grips it, curls and throws it to the other. Cool way to workout together and incorporate some good upper body exercises.

‘Check it out. We love the variations around here so here’s one that is definitely worth trying. If you happen to have access to some weights and a bar this give this exercise a go! NO weights, however, NO problem. Try it using a sandbag or cement bag, or even a large stone. A total body builder this one is.

Yeah, that’s right! ‘Been doing alot of that lately; working out in the sand bare foot. I’m finding out that unstable ground forces one to use more muscle fibers in the feet,legs and core to create body balance and stabilty. The Gladiators of old did it, so why not tap into a good thing right? I say, if you have sand near by take your fitness to a new level. Incorporate body weight exercises, stones, logs or whatever you can think of! and use it! Check out the latest from USAJG, it’s our take on it training in the sand!……..(and we’re just getting started….)

It’s been awhile since I’ve wrote anything, ‘been really busy this spring with the chimps tryouts, softball, and junior’s jujitsu tournament( he took 2nd place, by the way). ‘Brought tears to me eyes watchin’ my 10 yr old choking the other kids ot sleep. ’Wot up Gorilla’s!? Just checking in with you all, hoping that everyone is doing well out there! We just put out our newest vid of some highschoool wrestler’s stepping out in to the elements to get a great workout while having some fun as well. You’ll see them flipping plates forward and backwards and dragging them too! They also ran a number of sprints in the sand barefoot. For those of you who haven’t tried taking your workout outdoors, you gotta give it a shot! Here’s a little piece I wrote a while back ( posted on straighttothebar.com) on outdoor fitness. Get Gorilla! What’s up, what’s crackin’ what’s going down !??! It’s a Thursday here at USAJG and I just got back from my 2 hour MMA initiation class. Man, it was glorious! And it was FREE! Learned some new things today and found out I already knew some things and I put it all together. I rolled down with TJ, a local wreslter, who got a big match in Maryland this weekened. We sparred, grappled and sweat like crazy. HOWEVER, let me say that I am in no way abandoning my Gorilla’s out there and what we hold true here at USAJG. Training will continue here as always and believe me ,we are already getting ready for the next outdoor video. So fear not, though I embark on the local MMA circuit.

Navy Seal PFT Challenge has been post-poned indefinitely. There is no word as to whether or not it will come to Pittsburgh, so I guess we ain’t going. Need some new weights, but low on the cashflow? Want to try alternative lifting methods but not sure where to start? Well here’s a idea that’ll keep your spending to a minimum and build the strength you’re after; may I introduce to you .. Cement Bags. This universal construction material is very cheap (under $4 will get you an 80lb bag) and it comes in various sizes. HomeDepot or Lowes will have 40lb, 60lb, and 80lb bags for example. Other places may vary . The only other purchase that goes with getting a cement bag is a roll of tape (duct tape) to keep the cement mix from leaking out. Read more »
